My deep sympathy to the victims of the heinous attack on The Tree of Life Synagogue and to the African-Americans killed by another white supremacist in Louisville this week. We must hold leaders accountable for the hateful, nationalist rhetoric & policies inspiring this violence.

I’m not vouching for Trump’s rhetoric in any way, shape, or form—and I agree that what he says matters—but this kind of violence was happening before Trump became president and would continue if he were removed today. Our country has some problems that are even bigger than Trump.
