I’m sorry to say that this sounds like the wishful, naive thinking about how governments work that I find is common in Americans. Corrupt leaders are often quite capable of defying and crushing an earnest and law carrying opposition.
It's too late for the president to fire his way out of this. Too much is already known by the Special Counsel, federal investigators in New York, state attorneys general, Congress, the media and others. The more he obstructs, the more ensnared he'll be.

We know how courts work, we’ve seen it before. We have former state executives in prison right now. There is nothing naive about this; we know how to mete justice, because we do it all of the time. We are not like other countries.

IF the midterms aren't hacked, votes thrown out, etc. and IF the remaining honest judges & law enforcement are allowed to do their jobs.

In all honesty, something is rotten in DC & it’s DT. He needs to resign for the good of the nation. His VP is corrupt, too.... so both need to be booted.
