Mueller knew Team Trump would back out. Now he has a very valid reason for issuing a subpoena, having exhausted all diplomatic avenues.
If the president won’t even answer Mueller’s questions in writing, it means that he cannot without exposing unlawful behavior. This approach has gone on long enough and the nation deserves answers. Subpoena Trump and determine once and for all whether he is indeed above the law.
