His PR team doubled down and said he uses that term all the time. @mmfa did a check and found he’d never used the term monkey in any public speech. So no, he isn’t going to apologize. His straight up racism is now widely known.
I hope @RepDeSantis, who was smart enough to study and Harvard and Yale, meant no harm by his “monkey” comment. If so, let him apologize for the well-known slur and become a vocal advocate for equality in America.

No one has to “let him” apologize, and DeSantis is not offering anyway. He’s not apologizing because his comment sent the exact message he intended.
