Trump is not damaging faith. Faith leaders are damaging faith. Trump is openly corrupt and amoral. His pretense of faith is transparent. So it's the faith leaders who approve of him despite his depravity who damage faith

It's the pastor who defends Roy Moore by saying the Bible says sex with 12 year-olds is okay. It's bishops who protect child molesters. It's carnival barkers who enrich themselves and demand more while doing nothing of worth. Religion did not need Trump to be a dumpster fire

I am convinced support of Trump by the evangelical community has had a MAJOR negative impact on the church. Trump and faith are an oxymoron, trying to pretend it's anything else makes Christians look like bumbling idiots or weak sheep. Neither of which did Jesus stand for.

Maybe the evangelical community was a disturbing farce to begin with. I don't take any issue with any of the major religions, but I take issue with particular sects like evangelicals. You can't allow the children of your members to go to bed hungry while being "pro-life"

In a very real and chilling sense, Trump’s been not only an agent for Russia, but an agent for evil. He has brokered an anti-Christian sentiment by providing a platform of approval of evil, falsehoods, adultry, and general corruption and cementing it to evalgelical Christianity.

This has been my main objection to trump from the start He's evilhttps://twitter.com/lotsofuss/status/1034594895053221888 …

Very true. Sometimes not God but religion or church. I haven't been able to go to church but 2xs since his election. I was very active in a church for years. I tried my best to share my insights on trump & what he'd do if he was elected. They didn't believe me or said 1/

Pence will be fine if trump gets impeached. Most importantly they said abortion & SCOTUS we're worth it. Almost everything trumps done is what I told them I felt would happen. They told me I was overreacting. I left the church the Sunday after he won 2/

I think Putin and Trump have both skillfully (ab)used religion as autocrats. The both view it as a deep well of credulity to be tapped. A large pool of willing gullible followers that will support you as long as you say a few playitudes and follow a few rules.
