Don't like socialism? Give up your Medicare and Social Security, old people.

Those are great social programs that are financed from the fruits of a market economy. Don't conflate socialism with social policy. They're quite different.

Well, better government the truly works for the people. It’s not a fantasyland. There are lots of successful examples that conservatives love to ignore like healthcare in Denmark, Sweden, Canada, Uk... meanwhile, conservatives give a 1.2 Trillion dollar taxcut for the rich.

Looking at the results of unfettered hyper-capitalism something is obviously not working. Endless wars we didn't have to engage in, opioid crisis egged on by corporate greed, reality star POTUS, crumbling infra, extreme wealth inequality, healthcare, etc etc etc.

Serious Q for anyone handwringing about “socialism”. Why is expansion of the “common good” automatically bad?

It isn't. Roads. Police. Schools. Parks. Street lights. Snow removal. City lights. The internet was funded for 30+ years using tax payer money until it became a viable biz option.
