“There is no question that Democratic leaders have been tugged toward a brand of more unadulterated progressivism. But there are fewer levers of power at their disposal to impose discipline or tilt their proposals toward the political center.” https://nyti.ms/2KABt0H

The move toward progressivism for Dems is a natural reaction to the Trumpian transformation of the GOP. Hopefully retaking Congress will moderate the Dems. But really, we need a new centrist party.

No, we don’t. That will ensure the GOP retains power for decades. The Democrats are a very big tent. From Conor Lamb to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Want to influence policy, get involved.

GOP consolidated power by unrelentingly caving to the Tea Party at every turn. Seems to me Democrats need to get behind @DemSocialists if they'd like to ever take power again

Centrists have always been a willing handmaid to the right. The left does not need them.

The center does not lie between the DNC and the RNC. The center is well to the left of either.

There is no internal battle. There is democracy. There are policy discussions, there is a very big tent. This is a good thing. Meanwhile, your party espouses racism, misogyny and corruption.

When left is center and right is far FAR right the only wiggle room is to the left.

Tilting toward the center has won them a lot of votes... Not. "Tilting toward the center" means believing in nothing.
