If we're paying a heavy price now it's because we reaped abundant benefits then. And we should consider both costs & benefits in toto, and wait a bit, before concluding Europe erred.

You got that right. All these companies that moved to China, Russia, India, Mexico, etc to abuse the rights of a working human being to not only make a wage, but make a wage in which they & their families thrive. Profits over principles.

The trouble is, that Europe is a continent that has not much energy ressources on its own. Basically importing them from Russia makes perfect sense. The US are lucky that they are located in a very ressource rich region of the world.
