-In 16 countries by 2030
-In 4 countries after 2030 (...will be 2030 in the end)
-Being discussed in 3 countries
Only 5 are yet to start discussing the inevitable.

Overall across Europe more than half of all coal power plants are now closed, or will be closed by 2030 at the latest.
Plants without closure dates are on borrowed⏲️, to put it generously.

In Germany for example, we estimate just 12 plants will be online after 2030, despite the previous govt's delusional 2038 “compromise for coal”. Closures already accelerating.
The incoming govt will have to face reality: coal has 8 years left.

We have come a long way on moving #beyondcoal, but we still have much to do.
#COP26 in #Glasgow is a moment to hold polluters accountable, and set our sight on ending coal in the OECD by 2030 and everywhere else by 2040.
