Even before wildfires, the cost of coal in 🇹🇷 was already high. According to , emissions from its #coal plants led to an estimated 4,818 premature deaths, 5,664 hospital admissions and 1,480,000 lost working days in 2019, all preventable by investing in #renewables.

#Renewable ☀️🍃 energy isn’t just cheaper, healthier & safer, it’s also what people want.
A 2018 survey by climate information hub İklim Haber & research company Konda found that 83% of Turks polled would prefer #renewable energy over #coal.
Expect that number to go higher.

Coal is in its #EndGame all over Europe, but it is now clearer than ever before that the closures and cancellations must come faster if we are to build the cleaner, healthier, safer & more just future that we all want.
