The most authentic way to honor my father is to commit to the work of creating a more peaceful, just, humane world. Let quotes coincide with conscious efforts to eradicate poverty, militarism and racism (privilege + power = oppressive policies + culture).

Don't reduce MLK to a quote on social media. Live out the dream. Seek first the Kingdom of God. Confront evil. Be a truth-teller. Seek justice. Love mercy. Pursue reconciliation. Love your neighbors. Forgive your enemies. Live a committed life of peace, love, and justice.

The church may be going through challenges and shifts but the Church isn't dead because as long as we preach and embody Christ crucified and Christ risen, there is power and truth in the whole Gospel.

"He is not here; he has risen, just as he said." The most powerful words that convey the truth that Jesus is trustworthy and is who He says He is. Jesus is Savior and Lord!

"Silent Saturday" is a powerful reminder that just because God "appears" silent or absent doesn't mean that God isn't at work and in control. These are difficult and challenging days. Be faithful. Press on. Remember, God is not yet done.

Don't be so quick to jump to the celebration of His resurrection. Take time to pray and reflect. Remember, there is no Resurrection without Crucifixion; No Easter Sunday without Passion Friday; No empty tomb without the Cross.

Just when we think we get what it means to follow Him...Jesus washes the feet of His disciples including the man He knew would betray Him. Dang it. DANG IT!

In Jesus' final days, He could have walked away. Yet, out of His love for humanity and obedience to God the Father, He walked the path to the cross. Thank you, Jesus.

In His final days, Jesus the King borrowed a donkey, washed dirty feet, ate with misfits, forgave enemies, and went to the Cross because of His love for humanity. This is grace. Amazing Grace.
