4E is the only RPG I’ve played where combat was actually fun and engaging. In every other, it’s either a tedious, uninteresting slog, or it’s still dull but at least it’s over real quick.

I thought about this for a bit, and all the things that argue against - like narrative flow and the "squishy bits" are better in many other games. D&D leaning hard into MECHANICAL including the combat being much more about tactics than luck.. would be nice.
