Those who tell meteorologists to just stick to the weather can’t handle the fact that they will encounter opinions which differ from theirs.

BREAKING : At 10 pm EST tonight, NOAA released hundreds of pages of documents in response to my and other requests about Hurricane Dorian and Sharpiegate. A late night dump from NOAA! Hmm wonder what's in here. Uploading docs now.

Severe bow echo with damaging wind gusts to 60-70 mph moving towards the Florida Keys. Already noting several embedded mesocyclones, with the shot of a few tornadoes/landfalling waterspouts tonight. Keep in mind any tornado may precede the heaviest precipitation.

It's a new era... the SPC Day 2 Convective Outlook now features individual tornado/hail/wind probabilities, in a similar manner to the Day 1 (today) forecast.

The M7.7 Jamaican quake produced sideways motion on the fault, so the tsunami risk is low. (Seafloor should move up to make tsunami.) But if I'm ever at the beach and feel strong shaking, I move to high ground. Downside is I lose a day at the beach. The upside could be my life.

There was no rain, and likely no thunder. But a severe thunderstorm warning was in effect for 70+ mph "outflow boundary" that meteorologists saw on radar. The captain headed onto Table Rock Lake anyway, having made a "self assessment" about the storm:

Shift all tornado tracks 20 miles east and it would’ve been a significant disaster. That part still freaks me out every time I think about it.

From Elizabeth Leslie: 85% (!) of Lee Co AL tornado survivors took final or only tornado action after hearing, seeing, or feeling the tornado (or what they thought was something bad).

At I sat in & talked to as many scientists as I could. Top take aways: 1) There is no single but many and we won’t even know about some until they happen 2) We need mitigation now, harder later 3) Intervention likely to buy engineers more time

A few things to note... 1. SPC nailed it again 2. This was far from a "bust". It was a significant wind event as forecast, with a tornado threat. 3. Tornadoes were reported within the slight, marginal and even gen. t-storm risk area. Tornadoes can occur in ANY risk area.
