Is there actually any such thing as Australian cuisine? Genuine question. I’ve had magnificent food in Straya, but nothing I’d consider to be “Australian”. Beyond, like, meat pies and witchetty grubs

Nah just kidding, onions are repulsive and I am immediately suspicious of anyone who eats them. Also, Australian cuisine is better than English cuisine, at least when it comes to "cuisines that don't actually exist but we pretend they do."

Look, I'm half Scots-Irish, half Polish. I have nothing to brag about when it comes to ancestral cuisine. It's potatoes, innards boiled in a sheep's stomach, and various kinds of blood sausage and upsetting pies for my people.

You don't want know what the Polish people came up with to stuff inside of bread as filling over the years. Trust me, you don't want to know. Even pierogis are gross, and that's by far the least offensive of them.

Really, there are only a few great cuisines: French, Italian, Indian, Japanese, Chinese, and Ethiopian. Well, American too, but we're just the best so that's a given.

What is the finest innovation of American cuisine? Well if you're going to exclude the hamburger because it's too proletarian (why should you? it conquered the planet!) or American-style pizza b/c it was originally Italian, then the answer is probably BBQ in all its varieties.

Except for Carolina-style barbeque. That stuff is disgusting, nobody needs a vinegar-based rub.

As a Texan, I’d like to agree about BBQ, but I think we have to admit that Cajun/Creole food is the best cuisine to come from this country.

Barbeque? Like, the cuisine of the caveman, patented about 250,000 years ago? Yeah, totes an American invention.

Any meat cooked over flame is not "Barbeque".

I’m pretty sure salmon was getting smoked in Scandinavia well before it was being smoked in the US.

Wasn’t the idea of giving brisket a dry rub then slow cooking it brought over by Jewish immigrants? (Eg. Pastrami)

Ashkenazi Jews, Czechs, and Germans brought brisket to Texas. 🤠
