I think my brother and I knew every single lyric on the SKID ROW debut album. "18 And Life To Go," "I'll Remember You," etc. We were the youth gone wild...with goofy unthreatening hair metal. Then a few years later Nirvana happened and ruined it all.

The difference here, though, is that Soul Asylum isn't a band anyone has to be embarrassed about really liking. Solid MSP-area band. https://twitter.com/dog_patton/status/1300952576012300289 …

Slave to e Grind (the title song) absolutely rocked. I had the Parental Advisory version.

I remember. I also learned how fickle young white suburban kids are. As fast as that type of music became the biggest thing that ever was it was replaced by something else that was the biggest thing that ever was, and lasted even less time before being chucked.

Grunge killed hair metal.

I'm just glad you didn't say Wilson Phillips.

Hey man, I sort of liked "Hold On" as a kid. But I was a kid.

I'm a fair bit older than you and those bands never did it for me. Notable exception: Cinderella, which had a real dirty blues sound that made them stand out. Also, "Don't Know What You Got 'Til It's Gone" is an all-time Top 10 rock ballad.

Yeah, Poison and Skid Row came along as I was moving out of my metal phase. But I'm still mad at myself for turning down Cinderella tickets and going to my senior prom.
