It was once thought that BFRBs were only present with OCD, but there’s a lot of work being done on the connection to ADHD folks. First thing to do: tell your doctor. Especially if it developed after starting ADHD medication.

Next thing to do is start tracking when you do it, and what your physical and emotional state is. Is it something to do with your hands when you’re restless? Is it something sensory that you’re trying to manage? Is it brought on by stress or anxiety or hyperfocus?

Some things, if they’re hyperfocus based, can be replaced with other things. Chewing gum might curb nail biting. Fidget toys might curb skin picking. I started self-massaging and stretching to curb pulling out my eyebrows when I was hyper focused.

Holy shit, this is an ADHD thing? If anyone has any good advice, I'm really curious to try it. I've been biting or picking at my lips, cuticles and the inside of my cheeks for decades.
