People sometimes wonder what we do on Mondays when we're closed. We'd like to say it's things like working with our volunteers, working on enquiries, producing copies of documents and working on projects. But, really, we spend our day trying to make our hair do this.

I was talking this weekend to a young'un just back from a night out raving, & reminiscing about the power of dancing for hours in my clubbing days to calm a busy mind. Spotted this on my feed this morning, & I am determined to get out & dance more in 2020

Wow. A Pro-EEC poster from the first referendum in 1975. "Forty million people died in two European wars this century. Better lose a little national sovereignty than a son or daughter."

Wondering what are the chances of taking a 6 month sabbatical to work on this? I used to love Father Brown and Chesterton's fiction when I was in younger (though I'm wondering now if it's normal teenage reading matter...?)

Really sorry to have to miss 's keynote on the role of emotion in medical museums, but it's been such an interesting day, lots to think on about developing meaningful engagement with collections and community participation

Also anyone who knows me will know how delighted I was to see the foregrounding of sewers and sanitation in the story of public health in the Medicine and Community gallery. Lots I didn't get a chance to see though, will aim to get back to with the kids soon

I *hate* the kind of 'archival mysticism' described here, where archive searchroom is some kind of hallowed space. are for everyone, people! (& yes, digitisation opens up access, but costs can be prohibitive; only a tiny proportion of overall archival record is online)
