Found this out via this article, before getting notice from HR… while ::checks notes:: oh yes, I’m on my HONEYMOON. Of the photo dept members who received notice today, ALL are people of color, and if cut, the photo dept won’t have Spanish speakers.

Seattle was the first major city to integrate kids without a court order. Today, it’s hard to tell that ever happened. Please take some time with this massive project about the resegregation of Seattle schools, which took my colleagues and I more than a year to complete.

I was told yesterday that my position as the staff photographer at Crosscut would be eliminated. Me and four others in the newsroom are being laid off. I’m very proud of the hard work my coworkers and I have done together. This is really an incredible loss to our community.

Yesterday, Crosscut’s parent company (@CascadePubMedia) announced it intends to lay off five newsroom employees, effective July 1, and replace them with additional video and podcast producers.
