tl;dr The piece explains the Swedish response in terms of (a) the epistocratic element of the Swedish system, (b) fundamental constitutional constraints, (c) the evidence base as of December of last year, and (d) behavioral considerations.
We do not – I repeat WE DO NOT – defend the Swedish approach. As we argue in the piece, we won't be able to say if it worked or not until after the pandemic is over.

I think this is a brilliant article. It's possible for a response to be neither right nor wrong. A considered, measured response, with many resources to call upon, in case unexpected repercussions emerge, is a very important part of long-term management & broader context of CV-19
