He might have been legally carrying, but he pursued a fleeing Rittenhouse. When you pursue someone who is fleeing, you pretty much lose self defense posture.

And you can also lose your self-defense posture if you are committing a crime in the first place. ie illegally carrying a firearm. That is why this case is so difficult. He also wasn't chasing him. He was trying to disarm KR after he shot 2 other people and KR had his gun raised

Again I am not saying the initial victims were justified in their actions nor am I saying KR wasn't justified in his feeling threatened. I am saying there are a lot of factors to this case.

"lot of factors" smells like reasonable doubt. And he was not illegally carrying, and even if so, not up to Antifa chomos to assault & disarm him. R did not randomly shoot people - he was assaulted and chased first.

Your implicit bias is showing. Lots of factors isn't always reasonable doubt. Its nuance about the law and what evidence is and is not admissible in court. Whether or not the plaintiff has a juvenile record. This is a legal matter it is NOT a political issue in court.

Juvenile records, indeed all criminal records, rarely admissible in court. And seeing as how these charges are themselves political posturing by elected DA, it is a political issue. When DA is elected, there are political dimensions to all charge/no charge decisions.

The survivor has only drug paraphernalia and misdemeanors and he is not facing charges so his record is irrelevant.

I never said anyone's record is relevant from a legal standpoint. What is relevant is who initiated aggression, and who pursued whom.

That isn't the only issue. If it can be proven he could retreat that matters. If they show the people had reason to attempt to disarm him, that is a factor. He lied about being hired as security, so that is a factor.

Pretty hard to retreat when you are on the ground and getting smashed with a skateboard. And if you are fleeing and being pursued, you are retreating.

Additionally claiming he was a trained medic when he only had lifeguard training also undermines his credibility. His legal team is doing him a disservice by not saying he was a scared kid in a bad situation (true) instead painting him as a hero (subjective).
