How to protect vs the XBB variant wave in Singapore?
With the new and significant wave, cases are up, along with hospitalizations. The 79% population booster rate (double the US) is helping to avoid severe outcomes

With only 0.2% needing supplementary oxygen, I doubt that the majority of these hospitalizations were for Covid-related illness. Patients with minimal symptoms and not hypoxic are discharged home. I would bet majority of these are incidental + tests on admission.

Singapore also releases #Reinfection statistics
Similar to UK, Denmark and New Zealand, Singapore is seeing a time-based increase in reinfections, including previous infections with Omicron variants.
(Note, like Denmark, Singapore had more BA.2 than BA.1)

It would be interesting to know how waning vaccine efficiency (at 4+ months & beyond) may have been a factor for those with serious symptoms who fared badly.

Does Singapore use Paxlovid regularly as well? Are we expecting that to be as effective as with prior variants in the US at keeping hospitalizations down? How far from an mpro mutation are we?
Note that growth has been declining in the past week

Singapore & XBB subvariant: cases have increased but growth now slowed. Mostly in adults. Peak lower than previous 2 Omicron waves. twitter.com/andrew_croxfor…
