If it’s conspiratorial thinking to not trust a drug which has no long term safety data for a disease which primarily affects the elderly, so be it.

Thank god the Polio vaccine was developed in the 60s and people took it and helped eradicate it. Wise people like yourself would have kept polio going today.

Confirmation bias... people believe nonsense that they want to be true, and ignore facts that they don't

I think it's also a trust issue. Many people don't look past someone they have always trusted, especially one who may have been extremely trustworthy in the past. Battle to believe their heroes are only human, fallible and have scientific feet of clay. I feel sorry for those.
