We saw Israel set a goal of vaccinating 1% of their population a day. It's a small country with ~9 million people. To see the US get 3.4 million jabs in a day, representing >1% of its population of ~331 M--is pretty remarkable.

We average 3M/day during a regular flu season. We're aggressively trying to ramp up vaccines now, so I agree. 4M is doable.

when is "soon"? any concrete forecasts like "90% chance of reaching 4M/day by date X"?

Feds plan to ship 27M doses next week, enough for almost 4M per day on average. I would guess week after next will have days over 4M if injections keep up up with supply. But possibly next Friday. Maybe another week or two after that to average 4M/day.
