My sense is that there has been *much* more energy behind @AndrewYang than has been reflected in official narratives. Hence #YangMediaBlackout This is what I thought about Bernie & Trump in 2016. I only wish the first primary were a simple secret ballot to test that theory.

The map is not the territory & the marketing is not the product. Keep that in mind. It is a desperate measure for a desperate situation which hasn’t fully happened yet. There are still jobs, but there are few careers. We have to do something when labor markets fail families.

It's not because of UBI that people have tuned out Yang. It's because he's a novelty candidate who doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell to be nominee. Some people are still realists.
-
I don’t think that’s Yang’s significance. The order is crumbling. If not 2020, 2024 then. By 2028 we will for certain not have a modern-DNC acceptable candidate. The question is when not if. Reality can only be suspended for so long. It’s over.

The weird thing is that UBI is neither - it's a dividend. It's not free and it's not magic. It's from the REAL GAINS our economy is making in the technology sector but aren't being shared or seen in rural areas or areas the technology is displacing.

I still don’t understand two issues with UBI, if it were to be enacted: 1. How does it not immediately spark an inflation response, essentially negating it? 2. How does a President ever get elected in the future without “promising” increasingly higher UBI amounts?
-
An incremental implementation of UBI is a good idea. That would address inflationary issues, because there would be time to make any needed adjustments.

I think it was
@naval who called ubi a non-solution to a non-problem. That's the boat I'm in. And if it goes wrong, it will go horribly wrong. So I mostly love Yang except I think that ubi is a catastrophically bad idea. -
So you think that humans that didn't create the Earth should be allowed to compel other humans to work for access to the land/water/food we need for SURVIVAL? That's slavery.

Personally I think Yang represents the best version of the blue experiment in government, if you’ll allow me to generalize. Best as regards intentions and strategy. Tho, I am not optimistic about large centralized programs or government’s ability to act in “our” best interests...

Yang is the only candidate who has an actionable plan that you can go read for yourself and make an informed decision. His data-driven, concrete explanations of his proposed policy is what flipped me his way over Tulsi—who has great principles, but little substance on the issues.
