When did they start using superdelegates?

I think it goes back to the famous 1968 convention. But it changed importantly in the Clinton era of the early and mid 1990s with new additions if I am not mistaken.

Still can't believe DWS said that on live television, but it IS literally written in the DNC bylaws/rules charter... Not to mention, the DNC'S own attorney stated in Federal court that the Democratic Party can choose whomever the hell they want as nominee... It's legally rigged
