I have plenty of intellectual nemeses who I have repeated imaginary arguments with, but mostly they're either dead or have never heard of me. Folks like Stephen Jay Gould, Howard Gardner, Oliver James, Judith Butler, Steven Rose, Plato, Descartes, Freud, etc.

I think sometimes I'm my own arch nemesis. I also think that's not necessarily a bad thing; it keeps oneself in check.
