Reading 's new book Not Born Yesterday! And what an interesting argument: people aren't as gullible as we think they are - communication is crucial, and "unreliable signals [...] threaten the stability of communication." Vigilance thus proliferates, not gullibility.

Results are in! 53% of all people favor such a law. US citizens are almost perfectly divided on this. Other nationalities are more supportive of the law overall. Fascinating! 🤔

Political polarization produces better Wikipedia articles: "politically polarized teams engage in longer, more constructive, competitive, and substantively focused but linguistically diverse debates than political moderates." link:

Should there be a law (like in Germany) prohibiting people from working more than 48 hours a week? Also, let me know about your nationality!💡📊

This is so important. Public recognition for donating can make future donations less likely by crowding out an intrinsic motivation to be altruistic.

Terrifyingly, this paper by Boaz Keysar et al. has come back to mind these days: "Positive actions of giving are reciprocated in comparable measure, whereas negative actions of taking are reciprocated more selfishly, and may be followed by escalation."

Just learned about this thought-provoking paper by Prof Dale Miller arguing that the idea that people are motivated by self-interest alone inhibits and corrupts truly prosocial behavior and increases pluralistic ignorance.

Can you make someone give more to charity by reasoning with them? In other words, can good arguments change moral behavior? If you can do it, and I would like to pay you. You write an argument, we’ll do the study, biggest effect wins. Details:
