The Houston metro area is in the middle of one of the worst flash floods in American history, right now. This is at least the fifth 500+ year rainstorm in the region in just the past 5 years. We are in a climate emergency.

PLEASE remain sheltered in place at your current location. Roadways remain dangerous and anybtravel at this time may risk your life. There are multiple situations of people trapped in vehicles across the metro region #houwx #hounews #txwx
And then, in August 2017 was Hurricane Harvey — the worst freshwater flood in American history. Post-storm analysis showed that Harvey’s rains (60 inches in 4 days in some places) had already become 6 times more likely because of climate change.

And now, #Imelda. With rainfall totals already surpassing 40 inches in 3 days, the current Houston-area floods are already among the worst in American history. No other urban area in America has flooded as much as Houston in the last 40 years. And we are making it worse.

we too in NOLA are experiencing similar '100 year rainfall' consistently. How much flooding do you attribute to climate and how much to overbuilding/development? Just curious

I do not disagree about this being one of the worst Flash Floods in History, but how do you know there was not a cycle like this 200-500 years ago? Or 2,000 to 3,000 years ago etc... Mankind has been on this planet for a blimp of a second...
