It’s time to restore the Senate and have a government that is responsive to the needs of the people. The only way to accomplish this is by restructuring or eliminating the filibuster. Just do it.

WISCONSIN: Looks like Republicans don’t want to be left out of the national GOP strategy of locking in previously gerrymandered supermajorities. The congressional map released yesterday is an absurd GOP gerrymander that was drawn behind closed doors and with zero public input.

The would move power to the people and solidify a tenet of our democracy: fair elections. Afraid of the voters and fairness, Republicans for the THIRD time used the filibuster to prevent a vote on the measure - they want power more than a functioning democracy.

Senate Democrats made a promise to the American people to protect and defend voting rights—passing the is a necessary part of that promise. I urge Democrats-there will be no help from Republicans-to act swiftly and pass this necessary legislation. No excuses.

Colin Powell was the best of us. His was a life of consistent and consequential service. He will be remembered as a principled man who loved this nation and who fought for justice and for increased opportunity for all. My heart goes out to his wife, Alma, and to his entire family

The passage of the Texas Senate’s congressional map is yet another blatantly partisan attempt to ignore demographic facts. GOP-led legislatures are attacking our representative democracy through rampant gerrymandering to hold onto power. Pass the Freedom to Vote Act.

This periodic nonsense about raising the debt ceiling is non-productive, dangerous theater. The debt ceiling does absolutely nothing to rein in spending. Started about 100 years ago - not in the Constitution - it’s become useless. Pass a bill-get rid of it

This is a real danger to our democracy. Republican gerrymandering means that bills not supported by the people (like the abortion ban in Texas) become law and majority rule becomes impossible. Demand a fair redistricting process.

Oregon’s compromise map is just that—a compromise from both parties. Importantly, the map reflects the state’s diverse communities, preserves a competitive seat, and shows that public input was considered.
