Control women to control men. When hunter-gatherer societies gave way to dependence upon the warrior class, smart wimpy dudes snatched power by forbidding women from tribal & spiritual leadership. They realized if they controlled the women, they could control the warriors.

Tribal & spiritual leaders also dehumanized their tribe's enemies. More social control. Female goddess worship & pantheism were denounced as evil & replaced w/male deities. The male dominated hierarchy was established, subjugation of others institutionalized. Still is today.
