Rarely, but usually not. Mostly, the smell makes me a little sick because it smells kind of rotten to me. That's probably psychological. P.S. I'm vegan so maybe that matters.

So I guess it is more of a learned response. Thanks for the input

It’s learned. I grew up in kitchens, and I used to LOVE meat. Beeen vegan 4 years and don’t enjoy the meat smell now. Although sometimes the smell bacon does wake my stomach up

A long time ago, meat ceased to be something I view as food. I’d no sooner respond positively to the smell of cooking meat than you would if you threw your shoes on the grill

-
Interesting. Me too - I haven't eaten it for over 35 years, but there are still quite regular occasions where I go "mmmmm!" what is THAT? when my family cooks it!

Yes I am the same! I gave up when I was quite young - around 13.

As a long time vegetarian, steak on a grill does still smell good, but it does not make me hungry. The thought of eating flesh disgusts me. And grilling steak is the curious exception. The smell of most flesh cooking is repulsive to me. More likely to make me lose my appetite.

For me, most cooking meat it is still a pleasant, hunger-inducing smell. But there are weird anomalies: A few years ago I was at a wedding and they were roasting a whole... baby lamb? I think? I felt like I wanted to puke the entire night. To me it smelt like dead human.

I can’t even do food that resembles meat anymore- it’s like you’re a vampire that gets back alley blood bank deals. New, interesting stuff.
