My district is giving away free breakfast and lunch at the cafeterias drive thru to all students.
An argument for schools to reopen is that some kids only eat at school and are free from their abusive homes... If we know this why not increase minimum wage and fight off poverty? Why not get them out of abusive homes?

Local to me the school districts continued feeding kids in need. They had volunteers every day come and hand them out to kids in a drive thru type situation.

Our area has very low COVID infection rate. So we are sending our kids, with masks etc.

Why not put money into more social services? I know LAUSD has food service for families to pick up...but kids in abusive homes live in those homes pandemic or not. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen kids fall through the cracks of an understaffed child services.
