To understand what needs to happen to mitigate police brutality you need to understand the Marine Corps. In the Corps you are trained to kill with your hands, a knife, a grenade, a rifle and if you are a grunt with a lot more. You are trained how to most efficiently kill humans.

Oversight and accountability, absolutely. We still need to change protocols as well. This is not just one bad apple. They are trained to escalate, not de-escalate and to protect themselves over the people. Look at the gear they wear. The protocols must change!

I agree with this and as a former police officer and academy instructor I also feel we need to change the way police are trained from the beginning. First thing I heard in the academy was the "us vs them" speech. Made me feel as I was "above" those I was sworn to protect.

Thanks for the insight. It will never end when both sides see it as us vs them.
