So essentially if we don't take this serious a lot of people are going to die because the hospitals will fill up and ventilators will be taken up.

No. The outbreak is too widespread. A lot of people are still going to die. There's not much we can do to stem the flow of casualties now. Except wait.

In other words not as lethal but spreads way faster, needs to be taken more seriously.

Right now I see a 1.29% death rate in the US. Obviously, millions of tests to be done and deaths happening but I think it is dangerous to compare one pandemic to another. However, I do not see us having a 3-4% death rate.

We're at the very beginning of the curve here. There are thousands of people who just recently got infected, because this disease takes time to show up and make people really sick (~2 weeks total). Let's chat in 3 weeks, and see what it's like then.

It also had to do with the fact many of the cases were malnourished, injured by war, and or lived in unsanitary conditions. Most of the deaths were of people with compromised immune systems.
