Brother Mark arrived at the monastery where he intends to devote his life in servitude to the Lord. When he arrived, he discovered that the other brothers are creating new books by copying from previous copies.

He asked Brother John, 'Do you ever proofread these copies against the original? How do you know that someone isn’t copying a mistake?' Brother John pondered this and said, 'Alright, I’ll take one of the newest copies and compare it to the original text.'

Brother John wen off into the vault in the cellar where the original holy texts were kept. At nightfall he still hadn't emerged from the vault. The brothers grew worried and senf Brother Mark downstairs to check on Brother John.
