Where is the proof that the lead poisoning is from unrecovered game (Or gut piles) shot with lead bullets? First, most hunters retrieve their game, and second, about 70% of the time, the bullets pass through the game and out the other side landing in the ground on in tree bark

The lead shot gets into water in marshes and streams as well and people will get lead poisoning too from eating fish or game that may have ingested the lead pellets by mistake. The lead shot needs to be outlawed and replaced with a non toxic alternative. Why not steel?
