Homelessness is an issue everywhere. Hopefully one day we can end it for good. That's what I would like to do anyway.

Such a difficult thing to do. We currently do have places where homeless can go but they have rules. Like no drinking and no drugs. To really fight homelessness we need to focus on the root cause.

There are programs for substance abuse and severe mental illness that help homeless people but there is a lack of funding. HUD did a study in 2012 and said to effectively end homelessness it would cost only 20 billion. Just as a reference the farm bailouts were 28 billion.

I'd love to see homelessness end and it absolutely should be a priority, but I learned from a case manager at the community mental health services some refused housing offered. Homelessness may be desired by some, but they should not remain homeless due to barriers like access.
