If you become a monster to save people from a monster, did anything change?

My point being, at what point can it be justified, if ever? I can think of scenarios where it may be justified.
Justification is just our way to cope with what we have done that violates our morals. I have seen what happens to people who have justified their actions that run counter to their morality. Justifications fade and only guilt and shame remain, from my perspective anyway.
