Of course they do just like tractors, streaming media and every other advancement in technology. The workers displaced by technology may initially struggle but it opens up other opportunities. Retraining may not be viable for some workers and they will suffer as a result.
But it comes down to is the juice worth the squeeze? Depending if it's your job lost and your family suffers or you are the company being more productive with less costs is how you will feel about it. Progress and growth hurts but is a must to stay competitive.
