And they all start in New York City.

When is the last time 19 people got sick on one 13 hour flight? Flu. Yeah. Sure.pic.twitter.com/laFnrTrfXi

All should've been taken to the hospital

Again what: “Refused medical attention” ? CDC must not be that concerned. Hopefully passengers went home with a list of symptoms to be aware.... because that would be helpful to control a potential outbreak

-
Google “aerotoxic syndrome”. It’s the aviation industry’s dirty secret.
-
Unfortunately I am aware; but if the tests actually come back positive for the flu....I will be very curious to hear the CDC ‘s explanation on lifted quarantine. Just waiting.
-
They would not quarantine people with influenza.
-
Interesting. Not even until they knew the strain? Does any serious infectious disease resemble flu symptoms ?
-
The NYC health commissioner (acting) said the people who were taken to hospital were all stable. I guess there's always a chance it might be an avian flu strain, but I don't think the chance is high. There's human flu circulating in the Middle East. Likely that.

Petrochemical associated exposure from fuel fumes' lingering residue in a plane cabin can cause flu like symptoms.

Question...any reports of norovirus symptoms? Diarrhea and/or vomiting. BTW H3N2 and pandemic H1N1 are circulating in UAE so flu makes most sense.
-
sounds more like chemical intoxication from the cabin air or something similar.
-
That was my first assessment until I saw the info from
@SykesStyle and a quick look at the flu situation in UAE from@WHOEMRO - then it was a little easier to analyze. But a 14h flight could allow noro to start...though not hearing about those symptoms. -
Test them for carbon monoxide poisoning for crying out loud! Nobody will do it because then they’ll have to acknowledge the truth and then they can’t hide behind “mysterious odors” that keep diverting flights. Blame the victim, not the plane. Flu talk makes the airlines happy
-
Lets hope the truth comes out although suspect it will join a list of other unsolved other cases.
-
The passenger locator forms were handed out. Followups should determine if anyone ends up with flu symptoms. That should help although won't rule out chemical exposure.
-
And then it will be too late to test for carbon monoxide poisoning. It leaves the body after 24 hours which is why our union urges us to be tested ASAP because after 4 hours it may be too late. Airlines win again.pic.twitter.com/Ipw44bznYx
-
Yeah...when I first heard about it that was my thought...I honestly hope they test the 10ppl admitted.
