This one is interesting. Some voices are blaming the PR loss on "big money-funded scare campaign". But FPTP voters actually like the system. They like simplicity and actually like majority governments. The "fear" (of fringe parties) response only ranked 5th.

RNZ describe this public health paper on Christmas cards and alcohol as slightly tongue-in-cheek. I'm not convinced. Sally Casswell sounds dead serious in this interview!

It's a Rorshack test. Some see Elvis with a microphone, others see a guy peeing on the sidewalk when caught out by the red light.

Unite Union director argues I'm ideologically biased about minimum wages, and that proof of my bias is that I quote figures on the employment effects of minimum wage hikes. Because MBIE is part of the conspiracy too.

Heh. Before the trade competition clause. I remember one RMA association member making the quip at a conference how lucky NZ was to have retailers so passionate about protecting the integrity of the RMA all the way to court. 😉😂

IKEA says it plans "to explore expansion opportunities in New Zealand." Now begins a running battle as the other established big box retailers use the RMA to try to block IKEA from building anywhere near them any time soon. Sadly, RMA used by commercial NIMBYs too.

If *somebody* hadn't murdered , I would absolutely love to see a contract reading "Pays $1 if construction begins on an IKEA in New Zealand in 2019". And another, "Pays $1 if an IKEA opens in New Zealand before 2022."
