Sirens, water cannon, petrol bombs. It is almost midnight in #HongKong, and the standoff continues in PolyU. Some pro-democracy lawmakers, including Jeremy Tam, said they are contacting gov’t officials in search of a peaceful solution to the standoff tonight.pic.twitter.com/vISPjBNkjr

Several explosions can be seen at the battlefront between police and protesters outside PolyU, likely caused by the throwing of butane gas canisters with petrol bombs. I’m calling it a day - after 17 hours in PolyU. Police checked out press IDs and bags as we left. An officer told me “please tell the truth to the world” - in his case, it meant police didn’t kill anyone & were restrained. One could only hope the PolyU standoff turns out fine.pic.twitter.com/vGuXYfQF2X
