It is a legitimate concern tho, and it is good that it is already part of the discussion because you don't want companies to only start thinking about it when the space exploration market is huge and more difficult to change.

The problem is, when you read the article they praise companies for using methane (remeber these are companies in development and haven’t flown methane), and never once mention SpaceX and Blue are switching to methane as we speak. They also never mention SRBs which are NASTY

I am slightly concerned about SpaceX’s plans for Earth to Earth travel. This would drastically increase the number of launches and possibly make rockets close to the pollution levels of airlines. How many launches is too many launches?
-
I’ve ran those numbers! Starship E2E would need to launch 3,500 times a day to equal the CO2 output of the airline industry. BUT methane can be carbon neutral. BUT CO2 and Water Vapor in the upper atmosphere is bad. But say it’s 100x worse, thats still 35 launches per day.

Hi! Not skeptical, just curious: where did you compile the CO2 emissions data from?
-
There was a 2014 aerospace corporation report with CO2 output of most rockets flying. Then we added up the total launch from each rocket to come up with a reliable total.pic.twitter.com/0JPe1yft4a
