These days YouTube isn't only about views and subscribers anymore. While they still play a part at getting people in and getting ad money for your stuff it's not the main reason for it anymore.

It's all about how long people watch your videos, how they rate them, what the drop-off rate is (people watching the video for only a tiny amount of time and then click away), if they interact with the video such as comments or votes etc. or if they click on the infocards.

It's all algorithm-based these days, view- and sub-counts aren't that important anymore. Keeping that in mind the decision YouTube made to only display videos to your subs who will most likely be interested in and will watch them for a longer time makes sense then

If everyone of your subs would watch your video but realize they're not interested in the topic you're talking about they'll drop off after a few seconds and your "interest score" drops, meaning it'll harm your ad income and channel im general, ultimately you as a person too.

So it kinda makes sense for them to introduce that, they have to compensate a little bit on other sides when making changes to the other. Just my thoughts on this whole situation.
