I saw a tweet about how there isn’t enough discussion of what experts got wrong on COVID, so here’s a thread of things I got wrong.pic.twitter.com/jjs8AhGpLQ

Jan 2021: I expected the fall/winter peak to subside much more slowly than it did. I saw people going back to work & school, after the holidays and expected that to prolong transmission. But the sacrifices we made around the holidays paid off & the surge ended pretty abruptly.

and... that’s pretty much it. The summer surge, the fall surge, and the current spring uptick all played out pretty much as I expected. I wish I were wrong more, honestly. It might make it easier to watch the people in power make the same mistakes over and over again.

What do I see coming in the next few months? We’re opening too fast, the variants are spreading, & vaccinations aren’t going to keep increasing at this pace. If we aren’t careful, we’ve got another big surge coming as variants over take vaccinations. I hope I’m wrong.

You were much more hopeful and better informed than I was on this score. I'm ecstatic that you were wrong and also right-er than I was.

We all had this wrong. Great to be wrong and have the vaccine effort speed ahead
