4 our every 10 doctors in Ireland are from overseas and we are in the top 3 OECD countries reliant on medics from abroad. Time to review and work towards keeping Irish graduates here

I spent two years as a Clinical Lecturer at TCD and I have just heard of the fourth young Irish doctor I taught having died by their own hand. Beyond sad, he was a lovely laid-back, funny lad. That's two years of just one medical school. We have a problem here people.

Also consider getting help from local occupational health team. Good idea to register with a GP so that you have one if / when required. Confidential counselling services also available for all HSE staff along with mentoring and coaching

We have a problem in anaesthesia here. In the meantime, take time to check in on your colleagues and friends, and make time for a cup of tea or coffee and a chat! (And don't forget there's help especially for doctors in Ireland: )
