We've updated our guide to challenging faith schools after the govt said it would fund a wave of schools which can discriminate in 100% of their admissions. If a new faith school is opening near you, we can help

Hate to be all 'this issue suddenly affects me and I am outraged' but look, this issue suddenly affects me and I am OUTRAGED.

The detail in this piece from is damning. The government knows the damage that funding a new wave of religiously selective faith schools will do. But it's planning to do it anyway. It must rethink.

DfE's own assessment admits new VA faith schools will be discriminatory and undermine social cohesion. So why on earth fund them? The funding should go towards inclusive schools that neither segregate nor discriminate.

The DfE acknowledge their new selective faith schools will disadvantage families, students and teachers who don't share the faith and harm community cohesion. But it's all legal and the schools pinky swear to be inclusive, so nothing to worry about.

The DfE's own assessment says a wave of new selective faith schools in England will discriminate through their admissions, teaching and employment. It says they'll undermine social cohesion. The government must think again over its decision to fund them

Do you think our schools should be open and inclusive? Do you think pupils should be free to develop their own beliefs? Do you think schools should be free from religious control? So do we. Join us in saying:

Hats off to Yesodey Hatorah. What do you do if boys don't have access the library at the girls school and girls don't have access to facilities at the boys school? Split the school of course so no on can complain. Pure genius ahttps://files.api.ofsted.gov.uk/v1/file/50044382

Schools are for teaching, not preaching. And we should stop dividing our children by their parents' religion. Here's how you can help to spread that message - get involved in our campaign

A new 800-place Islamic boys school is being built in Blackburn – one of the most segregated towns in Britain. Why is state education fuelling further segregation and division?

The DfE has warned an academy trust it will lose its funding if a faith school it runs in Birmingham doesn't achieve "rapid and sustained improvement". A religious ethos doesn't mean a school will have strong standards, despite the myth to the contrary

Faith schools are largely justified on the basis that they create ‘parental choice’. But that's not the whole story. My latest piece for Huffington Post

The CofE likes to say 'its' schools aren't actually faith schools, but "Church schools for the community". But they'd rather force a church school to close than risk it actually becoming a community school.

"Of the five closest schools, four are C of E and we would not get a place in the fifth as we live too far away. We had no choice but to send our child to a church school despite our beliefs. This is unacceptable in this day and age."
