Alaska was “claimed” by the US in 1867 from indigenous inhabitants; ruled as dictatorship. It wasn’t until nearly 100yrs later in 1958 when Alaska was given statehood—ONLY because the white population had grown enough to make Congress comfortable giving the state political rights

All “countries” that contribute very little to the USA other than asking for funding. I sure wish all of these countries could join the USA and adopt our wonderful constitution.

Yeah, they’re not allowed. They’re not allowed to decide to become a state or break away from the US. They have no political rights or control. Their fate is 100% controlled by US Congress

Guam, The US Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, American Samoa & the North Mariana Islands are all Protectorates of the United States. Citizens under the Constitution but no rights to vote for a Senator or President and a non-voting Member of The House of Representatives.
