One resource that has always helped me since my graduation days Wonderful interactive visualization of common algorithms. Very easy to understand algos if you can picture them in your mind. https://visualgo.net/en

Algorithms are step by step solutions for a defined problem. Trying to firstly understand the algorithm helps. For this no code is needed. The best algorithms were written by people who mostly did not write code themselves.

I never even realised what I was writing were algorithms when I started out. Just like other areas of programming, the terminology can be the hardest part to get to grips with

It just takes time and commitment to get over algorithms

Hi, do you have any recommendations on how best to learn them?

A sadly imperative way of looking at algorithms. In the Functional Programming world, algorithms would be function composition, so e.g. the order of execution doesn't matter in general. (Runtime behaviour still matters and sets it apart from math)

Too much emphasis is put on algorithm solving anyway, so little of our work is algorithmic and so much of it structural.

Interesting concept! Maybe, more people would like them then and become better developers because of that
I guess, the same applies for mathsThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Another topic for discussion: asking algorithms for job interviews (e.g. frontend/backend engineer). Mentioned that the "better/bigger/more popular" company the more they will accent on algorithms.

If you’re “lucky” enough to work with quants in financial pricing models you’ll see other kind of algorithms... I’ve spent some (a lot of...) time to understand the steps even with the formula... On daily basis as a dev, algorithms are like a great toolbox to solve problems.
