I don’t know if this is just an American problem, but the desire to revise history is all too real. People are celebrating Bush, who pushed two disastrous wars, expanded the intelligence/“security” apparatus, etc. Krugman’s “well, it could have been worse” is emblematic

Don’t want to be all “woke” or whatever, but modern liberalism has a knack for downplaying American exceptionalism and obvious acts of bigotry. I don’t see how anyone could determine that the US and international Muslim community fared well since 9/11.
